BROWNS SIGN FORMER DESHAUN WATSON TEAMMATE

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will be throwing passes to a familiar face this fall.

On Saturday, the Browns officially announced the signing of tight end Jordan Akins.

According to reports, the Browns signed Akins to a two-year contract worth $5.2 million.

The Texans selected Akins in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He caught passes from Watson for three seasons.

In five years with the Texans, Akins had 151 receptions for 1,755 yards and eight touchdowns.

Akins put up career-best numbers in several categories in 2022, which includes yards per reception and touchdowns.

The Browns already have tight ends David Njoku and Harrison Bryant on their roster. The former had 628 yards and four touchdowns this past season.

With Akins on board for the 2023 season, the Browns should feel very confident about their depth at tight end.
