FORMER NRL PLAYER JOSH MCGUIRE HIT WITH 12-GAME BAN FOR 'UNACCEPTABLE LANGUAGE'

There is serious doubt about Warrington Wolves forward Josh McGuire's future as a professional rugby league player after he picked up his second lengthy ban of 2023.

The former Queensland Maroons and Kangaroos player has been handed a 12-match ban after being found guilty at a tribunal of using "unacceptable language" in last month’s defeat to fellow Super League outfit Leigh.

The 33-year-old denied the charge but was unsuccessful, handed a £1,000 (AU$1,862) fine on top of his suspension.

He was previously suspended for seven games following a similar incident in his Wolves debut in pre-season.

McGuire has played a total of seven matches for Warrington - a club he joined in 2023 after his exit from the St. George Illawarra Dragons.

He inked a two-year deal with the team, but his disciplinary record has sparked concerns about his immediate future.

His start to life in England follows a suspension-riddled final couple of years in the NRL.

He was handed two separate five-game bans while playing for the Dragons in 2021 before he was caught up in the team's infamous barbecue incident, which saw him fined AU$12,000 and suspended for one match.
