WITH CAITLIN CLARK STILL HOLDING OFF ON $1M DEAL, UNRIVALED TURNS TO ANOTHER CLOSE ALLY

Caitlin Clark has her offseason plans clear – relax after a hectic year of basketball and play some golf. This has raised questions about her participation in the new offseason league, Unrivaled, which is expected to pay a higher than average salary to those who join in. But while her fellow rookie and former Iowa teammate, Kate Martin, has just committed to 3×3 format, CC has not been named among the final few players yet. Rather, one of the remaining unnamed players is a Fever teammate.

After making a big splash in Indiana alongside CC, it’s Lexie Hull’s turn to take on the honor! The Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier founded league, which will tip off in January, has some big names joining in.

But among the famous ones not playing so far is Kelsey Mitchell, whose future in Indiana is uncertain and she’s an unrestricted free agent after the season’s end. But after a career-best season, Mitchell is still testing the free agent market and has meanwhile signed on to play in China. Her future with Unrivaled also remains certain, but the league has clearly found their next talent in Indiana! Does this bode well for Caitlin Clark fans?

It was reported last week that Unrivaled was preparing to offer a huge Lionel Messi-like MLS deal to Clark, with a million dollars in salary and other incentives. But so far, this has not seemed to impress the Rookie of the Year, but maybe her close friend from Las Vegas and fellow Fever player will entice her?

But her focus only seems to be on the W right now, as she previously made clear.

Caitlin Clark is only focused on WNBA basketball

After the Indiana Fever crashed out of the playoffs in the first round at the hands of the Connecticut Sun, Caitlin Clark sat down for a post-game conference with reporters. Among the top questions asked were what she plans to do in the offseason. Most players will of course choose to go overseas but Unrivaled has given them a chance to not only stay in the country, but also play basketball in Miami in January.

The Fever rookie, however, plans to take a break from basketball after transitioning from her senior year at Iowa to WNBA rookie. And whatever basketball she plays will be in the W. “Honestly, I’m just focused on this right now,” Clark said, per Matthew Byrne. “One thing at a time. Can’t always just be moving on to the next, my focus is right here.”

Nevertheless, Stewart and Collier’s league keeps their efforts alive. With only one spot remaining on the 30-player Unrivaled roster, Caitlin Clark might make or break the league with her decision. But if a million dollars in salary and a possible stake in the league cannot lure her, what will?
